Margarita Larsen - Oil, Charcoal, Digital

Margarita’s earliest memories of drawing began in Ukraine, where she first discovered her passion for art as a child. After moving to the Pacific Northwest, she continued to cultivate her skills, inspired by the art of animated films and a desire to achieve the same level of charm and excellence. She has taken various art classes from time to time but her real teachers have been trial & error and observation. Nature taught her to master details, figure anatomy helped her achieve realism, and childhood films taught her whimsy. Today, Margarita expands her artistic journey to include Live Painting at weddings, at coffee shops and restaurants, as well as participating in ArtWalks, Galleries, and Art Festivals, in hopes of reaching more viewers.

Artist Statement

As my life is a blend of reality and personal perception so my artwork is a blend of whimsical ideas while retaining realism. I may recognize things as they are and translate that to the canvas but I may also see how else they can be seen and add an element to express an emotional tone. I find myself getting lost in detail. I find myself jumping from subject to subject, medium to medium, technique to technique, craft to craft, but always exploring. With every piece, I learn something new about the world, about myself, about life. Collectively, my work is a window to my inner world.
